The Legacy of Guerin Rife
Few names in golf club design carry as much weight as Guerin Rife. His journey began with a simple yet groundbreaking idea—a cavity-back mallet putter designed to scoop up the ball effortlessly. What he didn't realize at the time was that he had just invented the first-ever cavity-back mallet—a design that would influence putter stability for generations.
This innovation also led to a breakthrough in launch dynamics. By shifting weight to the heel, toe, and sole, Rife's design increased stability but also altered launch angles, affecting roll. To counteract this, he developed RollGroove Technology, a face-milling pattern featuring closely spaced grooves that, when paired with a lower loft, created instant forward roll for unmatched consistency.
His ingenuity caught the attention of the golf industry, leading him to license RollGroove Technology to Spalding in the 1990s before launching Rife Putters in 2000.

Rife’s impact on the golf world soared in 2002 with the introduction of the Rife Two-Bar Putter, an industry-shifting design that emphasized stability, adjustable weighting & lie angle, alignment, and pure roll.
